Girraween Sports Complaex – Grand Opening, Last Friday was the Grand Opening of the sports complex, including the cycling track which was demostrated in style. A mini race/demonstration had around 30 cyclist show up with another 20 students from the local school riding around. The track was lined with school children cheering on the riders. The race turn serious half way through with 4 very good riders getting away and sprinting out the finish.

Note: the club is looking to run an extra grade but this will be decide depending on the number of riders on the day. The club handicapper will be on hand to reward riders for past performances.

Good afternoon
We would just like to thank you all for coming this morning to the opening of the Girraween Sports Complex and if you took part in the race – awesome work on the criterium track in pretty warm conditions. We had a lot of great feedback about how exciting it was and well done to the three Ben’s for winning it. Maybe we can make it part of the Noosa Tri or winter series ??
I know it was a busy day with media commitments for some of you so thank you again for taking the time get here this morning.

Girraween Grand Opening

1 Nov

The Grand Opening of Girraween sports complex is happening Friday 2nd Nov. There will be a number of sporting demonsations happening including a crit race.

– The race will Marshall at 9.00am, Start 9.15am (neutral pack for 15 mins). Then 10mins hard racing with a bell lap.

If you have the time to spare and can added to the numbers please come along and race or cheer on the riders

Event Location: Girraween Sports Complex (Girraween Crit track), Eenie Creek rd Noosa
This event is being sponsored and supported by Revolution Cycles.
The club and Revolution Cycles is wanting to promote this event and the next Girraween Crit (11 Nov) as an opportunity to encourage the participation of Juniors and female riders. We would like to invite all women riders and Juniors who have thought of racing, to line up, race on a track that is obviously traffic free, with easy sweeping corners and enjoy the social friendly atmosphere.

 Race Licences

 A Gold race licence is required to race all club races. This is an easy process of registering online, enter name, enter your club as Sunshine Coast Cycling Club, click on your age caterory (this is the catergory that you will race next year) and pay your money. Cost of different catergories vary but most would cost $220 that entitles you to race until 31st Dec 2013 (15 Months racing). There is also 1 day licences $33 or 3 day licences $44 available.
