New Kit

24 Jan

“Racing is important to men who do it well. When you’re racing, it is life. Anything that happens before or after that is just waiting.” Steve McQueen

The latest 917 Racing Cycling Kit continues the retro car racing theme of the previous limited edition Martini kit. The kit is based upon the all conquering 917 Gulf Racing Porsches of the 1970’s that won the legendary LeMan 24 hour race in Europe.   A Porsche 917 was also famously driven by Hollywood star Steve McQueen. The number of his race car was number #20.

Damo and Tim have put have new retro kit together – have a look at it in the link below.

Parking Bikes at RAW

10 Dec

Notice to all Raw Riders:
From tomorrow Sunday 9th December a new cafe will be opening on the upper deck alongside the shoe shop and Raw Energy. We RR’s have been politely asked to refrain from leaving our cycles in this area while we undergo necessary post ride caffeine recovery activity. I have asked Raw Energy if they could re-instate their old (green) cycle rack down on the side-way by the road but clear of the footpath. This may or may not always happen so RR’s are further asked not to crowd or hinder this path for pedestrians. The situation will be monitored over the next few months and if necessary the council may be contacted to provide some REAL! cycle racks. Watch this space.
Opportunity is taken to wish all Raw Riders and their families a happy, safe and enjoyable Christmas period.

For photos of the event click on photos and select event.  This event also saw B and C grade event with a really good showing from the juniors.  At least 60 riders entered the three grades to find that it wasn’t an easy course to ride.  It was ridden in a clockwise direction resulting in the hill becoming more challenging as the race progressed.  From the outset Stuart broke away and eventually rode away from (xxx) to lap most of the field.  There was a determined chase group that was able to stay away but not close the gap.  Stuart won convincingly.
